I have to say that this picture, the third in my spasmodic series of abstract patterns from the natural world, appeals to me much more than any of the paintings I've seen recently in the Baltic Centre for the Contemporary Arts on Tyneside. Its a puzzle to me that although I struggle greatly with abstract paintings, I find the natural equivalent mesmerising.
I'll identify the source in a couple of days. If you can't contain your excitement until then, feel free to have a guess....
