A most unpleasant end

Walking on the Chatton Sandyford moors in North Northumberland last week I came across this sad sight. I assume the deer jumped this new fence but misjudged it, getting its hind leg between the top two wires which then twisted as the deer landed on the other side. One thing is for sure -there was no way out once caught as the fence wires were drum tight. A gruesome fate indeed. But, ill winds and all that, there was plenty of evidence from both smell and droppings that the local foxes, crows and flies had done very well out of it with nothing much left but bones and a bit of skin.
